History Timeline of Windsor Safari Park and Legoland Windsor.
• 1969: Windsor Safari Park opens.
• 1992: Windsor Safari Park closes and goes into receivership.
• 1992-3: Planning, preparation, construction and design began throughout these years.
• 1994: Installation of foundation, services and the infrastructures for Legoland Windsor.
• 1995: Buildings and attractions were just becoming established around the park.
• 1996: Final installations completed at the start of the year. Staff base were recruited. In March the park officially opens.
• 1997: No major installations this year.
• 1998: Castle Land opened (now called Knight’s Kingdom). Lego Mindstorms also opens in Knights Kingdom.
• 1999: Dragons Apprentice opens, Balloon School (opened in April) and Xtreme Team Challenge (opened just before the schools summer holidays). Legoland Windsor opened at Christmas for the first time.
• 2000: Wave Surfer due to open in March but delayed to April. Construction starts for Creation Centre and Lego Racers, (open for Legoland’s Christmas Season). Bum Shaker closes.
• 2001: Technic Garage and Muscle Maker close. Technic Garage becomes a food outlet and Muscle Maker becomes The Truck Stop (remote controlled lorries). Sky Ride is refurbished.
• 2002: I-Spy Express re-themed to jungle animals and re-named The Adventure’s Express.
• 2003: Mindstorms moved from Knights Kingdom to the Imagination Centre which replaced the Dacta workshops, Robolabs also opens.
• 2004: Jungle Coaster opens and aligned with Wave Surfer they make “Adventure Land” Rocket Racers closes at the end of 2004 season. Celtic Maze is removed from Amazing Mazes.
• 2005: Fire Academy, Dino Dipper and Dino Safari open. Lego sell Legoland to Blackstone Group, control passed to Merlin Entertainments.
• 2006: Diggers Challenge opens. Spellbreaker 4D introduced to 4D theatre.
• 2007: Whirly Birds renamed Chopper Squadron. In July Mole In One Golf opens, in August Land Of The Vikings opens (supposed to open in April), VRS opens in October, and Magic Theatre closes.
• 2008: Seven new attractions were advertised this year: Vikings' River Splash, Loki's Labyrinth, Longboat Invader, and Mole-in-One Golf. New shows were introduced: Cinderella in the Duplo Theatre, and Revenge of the Aztec Queen. Xbox Gaming Zone replaces Magic Theatre.
• 2009: Rocket Racers Re-opens. Kingdom Of The Pharaohs opens. Jungle Coaster deconstruction begins. Explorer’s Institute is removed.
• 2010: Jolly Rocker. Pirate Falls revamp and re-name (Pirate Falls Dynamite Drench). Explorers Institute is replaced by a block of toilets. Landscaping for the Legoland Hotel construction begins.
• 2011: Atlantis Submarine Voyage opens on May 20th. Dino Dipper relocated (to Knights Kingdom) and re-named (Knights Quest). Hotel’s frame begins shape; major construction is happening with rooms being added, entrance and roof is being constructed.
• 2012: Legoland Windsor Hotel opens on the former site of the Jungle Coaster. Star Wars Miniland Experience opens on the former site of Rocker Racers.

When opened, Loggers Leap was the tallest log flume in the UK. As of 2005, it reclaimed this title.
